  • WELTZ, Florence Katie (Planz) – Of Neustadt, passed away at Hanover Hospital on March 12, 2021 in her 99th year. Florence was born February 6, 1923 to Lisetta Hilgartner and Edwin Planz in Normanby, Twp. Loving wife of the late Lorne W. Weltz (1977). Loving mother of Karen and Ed Sorensen of Wetaskiwin, AB, Wendy Peter and Neil of Neustadt. Loving grandmother of Blaine Sorensen (Carrie) of AB, Darren Sorensen (Tammy) of AB, Jason Peter (Rhonda) of Neustadt, Niki Peter (Reg) of Neustadt and Jaime Peter (Dave) of Elmira. Fondly remembered by 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Survived by her brother Gerald (Terry) and her sister Elaine Kingsley (the late Al). Predeceased by her brothers Eldon (Eleda), Howard (Helen), Lorne and Mervyn (Joanne) and her sisters Mildred Volz (Ivan), Ruth McArthur (Jack) and Shirley MacDonald (Don). Florence privately rested at the Garrett Funeral Chapel, Neustadt (www.garrettfuneralchapels.com). There will be no public visitation or service at this time. Private family service at a later date.

    Wendy and Family So sorry to hear of the passing of Florence! I'm sorry I didn't know till today (March 29th). She was a wonderful lady. I have memories of her when I visited.. always happy and cheerful and very welcoming.. and a great baker of "goodies"! I'm a certain she will be greatly missed by anyone that knew her. Brian

    Dear Wendy and Karen and families, please accept my sincerest condolences on your Mom's passing. As you know Aunt Florence was my godmother and I bear her name. I always felt welcomed when visiting at the farm. Good memories. She was a trooper . God bless you. Sending love and hugs.

    We are SO saddened to hear of your mom's passing. SO many good memories of the days gone past. Surround yourselves with each other and remember her for who she was and still is living within you and yours. We have plenty in the short time we were able to know and love her for who she was.
